St. Cloud State scored goals in each half to hand Wayne State its first loss in Northern Sun Conference women's soccer play Friday evening in St. Cloud, Minnesota by a 2-0 score. The host Huskies are now 5-2 and 3-1 in the league while WSC drops to 4-3 and 2-1 in NSIC games.
The host Huskies held a 16-2 edge in shots in the first half and scored at the 9:41 mark for a 1-0 lead at intermission.
SCSU continued their sizeable shot advantage in the second half, 12-3, and added another goal just nine minutes into the second half, for a 2-0 lead to close out the scoring.
Wayne State had just one shot on goal in the contest, by
Cleo Johnson in the 82
nd minute.
St. Cloud State held a 28-5 advantage in shots over the Wildcats and had an 8-4 edge in corner kicks. Both teams were called for just three fouls.
Senior
Skylar Stueckrath was credited with two shots in the contest.
Reagan Allen,
Leah Bennett and Johnson also had shots with Johnson's being the lone shot on goal.
Senior goalkeeper
Hayden Wallace recorded eight saves in the loss while allowing two goals.
Wayne State is on the road again Sunday afternoon visiting Minnesota Duluth in a 12 p.m. contest.
