The Wayne State College women's soccer team forced a draw with the Bemidji State Beavers Thursday evening, 1-1. The Beavers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 25' minute and held WSC scoreless until a self-scored goal in the 80' knotted up the scoring.
Maia Vacks led the Wildcat offense with five shot attempts and
Paige Pemberton followed with four.
The Wildcats attacked the Beaver defense early, with six shots in the first 18 minutes of play. The Beaver goal came from a corner kick and Emma Huelsnitz headered the ball into the Wildcat net. WSC outshot BSU 9-4,

The 'Cats continued to push the pace in the second half, firing 13 shots to Bemidji's six. With 10 minutes remaining in the match,
Alaina Sorensen fired a shot on goal that was deflected by the Beaver goalie. As the ball bounced off the crossbar and came down, a Bemidji defender whiffed the ball into the goal, giving WSC their lone goal. Neither squad could score a game winning goal, as the match ended in a draw.
WSC outshot BSU 23-10 and Sydney Truman ended with four saves. The Beavers had one more corner kick than the Wildcats. Wayne State moves to 4-5-5 and Bemidji State goes to 8-4-2.
