#11 Wildcats post road sweep at Augustana

            Taya Beller, Maggie Brahmer and Brooklyn Kusler each posted double digit kills and #11 Wayne State used rallies in two of the last three sets to sweep Augustana Tuesday evening in a non-conference volleyball contest at Sioux Falls by scores of 25-17, 25-23, 25-23.  The Wildcats are now 19-4 and 11-2 in the NSIC while the Vikings drop to 10-13 and 6-7 in the league.
            The first set saw the Wildcats hit .394 with 15 kills to take down the Vikings 25-17.  Augustana held a 6-5 lead but WSC scored four straight points to take the lead for good in the set at 9-6 thanks to a Channatee Robles kill, a block by Maggie Brahmer and Taylor Bunjer, a Bunjer kill and service ace from Robles.
            Later in the set, Brahmer recorded four straight kills to push the Wildcat lead to 19-12 and Wayne State closed the set with a 25-17 win.
            Brahmer had six kills to pace WSC in the set followed by Brahmer with five.
            Augustana held the lead for much of the second set until the Wildcats rallied late for a 25-23 second set win.
            The Vikings were in front 19-17 in the set when WSC scored four straight points to take the lead.  A block by Brahmer and Robles, a kill by Brooklyn Kusler and pair of Viking attack errors put the 'Cats in front 21-19. 
            WSC pushed the advantage to 23-20, but Augustana battled back to forge a 23-23 tie.  A Beller kill followed by an Augustana attack error closed the set for WSC with a 25-23 win.
            Beller had seven kills in the set to lead the Wildcats. 
            Wayne State trailed for most of the third set and was down 22-18 before closing with a thrilling 25-23 win that included a replay challenge lasting 6:30.
            A pair of kills from Robles along with a block from Robles and Brahmer cut the Viking lead to 22-21.  Following an Augustana kill, WSC used a Viking service error and kill from Kusler to tie the set at 23-23.  An attack error by Augustana on a WSC replay challenge gave the 'Cats a 24-23 lead and Kusler's kill closed the rally for a 25-23 win.
            Beller finished with 14 kills to lead a balanced Wildcat attack followed by Brahmer with 12 kills and Kusler 11. 
            As a team, WSC hit .269 for the match with 43 kills while holding Augustana to a .090 hitting percentage and 37 kills.  The 'Cats had 11 blocks and forced 25 Viking attack errors in the win.
            Brahmer and Robles each had five blocks for the 'Cats.  Senior libero Brooke Peltz had 24 digs and setter Molly Romano handed out 39 assists.
            Wayne State visits #9 Concordia-St. Paul Saturday at 2 p.m.
