After Wayne State scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 5-4 lead, Central Missouri rallied with two runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh to defeat the Wildcats 7-5 Saturday afternoon at the Washburn Invitational Softball Tournament in Topeka, Kansas. The Jennies are now 5-4 on the year while Wayne State drops to 1-9.
Central Missouri built a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning when Wayne State stormed back with five-run fifth to take the lead.
Mary Krystofiak started the rally with a walk.
Hayley Murphy and
Abby Husing followed with singles to load the bases.
Jordyn Klein ripped a single to center field to bring in the first Wildcat run.
Jordyn Rochholz followed with a two-run single scoring Murphy and Husing to cut the Jennies lead to 4-3.

Dylan Sweeney singled up the middle to score two runs as Klein and Rochholz scored to give the 'Cats a 5-4 lead.

Abby Husing led off with a walk and freshman designated player drew a walk with two outs to put the tying run on base, but the 'Cats ended the game with a ground out as Central Missouri finished with the 7-5 win.
Wayne State had seven hits in the game. Klein was 2 for 4 with a run scored and RBI. Rochholz and Sweeney each had two-run singles.
Annika Manzanares, Murphy and Husing each had singles.
Starting pitcher Sami Felt worked the first five innings in the circle, allowing four runs with three strikeouts. Junior reliever
Grace Lucka pitched the final two innings and suffered the loss.
Wayne State will play two more games Sunday at the Washburn Invitational, facing Missouri Western at 12 p.m. and Newman (Kan.) at 4 p.m.
