Braden Cannon had the go-ahead RBI triple with two outs in the sixth inning and earned the save on the mound with a perfect ninth inning to lead Wayne State in a 6-5 victory over Thomas More (Ky.) Friday morning at the RussMatt Invitational Baseball Tournament in Auburndale, Florida. The Wildcats improve to 10-5 with the win while the Saints from Thomas More fall to 7-6.
The game was scoreless through three innings, then both teams scored four runs in the fourth inning. Thomas and More's four runs came on a two-out rally taking advantage of two walks, a hit batter and two hits to score four runs.
Wayne State scored four runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 4-4.

Alex Calabrese followed with an RBI single to left field scoring
Trey Wells (single) and
Cade Lynam delivered a two-run single to center field scoring McCafferty and
Kaden Young (fielder's choice) to make the score 4-4.
Thomas and More regained the lead with a run in the top of the fifth inning for a 5-4 lead.
Wayne State tied the score in the bottom of the sixth as
Braden Cannon's two-out, RBI triple drove home McCafferty (single). The Wildcats took the lead in the bottom of the seventh as
Cam Madsen singled to shortstop and scored the game-winning run on a single from
Carter Thomas to give the 'Cats a 6-5 lead.
Relievers
Eli Crnkovich and Cannon sealed the win with 2 2/3 innings of hitless relief giving Wayne State the 6-5 victory.
Wayne State had 11 hits in the win to seven by Thomas More.
Cade Lynam was 2 for 3 with two RBI while Thomas also went 2 for 3 with a pair of singles, run scored and RBI. McCafferty finished 2 for 4 with two runs scored while Calabrese also had two singles. Cannon had Wayne State's lone extra base hit in the game, a triple.
Kadyn Van Hill started the game on the mound for the Wildcats and worked 3 2/3 innings, giving up two hits and four runs with two strikeouts.
Brody Sintek worked the next 2 1/3 innings, charged with one run on three hits. Junior
Jacob Kneifl worked 1/3 of an inning allowing two hits. Crnkovich (2-2) picked up the win with 1 2/3 innings of hitless relief, fanning three batters. Cannon worked a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts to notch his second save of the season.
Wayne State is scheduled to face Holy Family (Pa.) Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. in Auburndale, Florida.
