Despite three-hit game from Thomas, WSC falls at Concordia-St. Paul 7-4

            Concordia-St. Paul scored seven unanswered runs to erase a 3-0 deficit and the host Golden Bears completed a sweep of Wayne State with a 7-4 win Sunday afternoon in Northern Sun Conference baseball played at Barnes Field in St. Paul, Minnesota.  CSP is now 20-12 and 12-13 in the league while WSC is 21-12 and 16-7 in NSIC games.
            Wayne State opened the scoring in the top of the third with three unearned runs to grab the early lead. 
            Cade Lynam reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a Carter Thomas two-run homer down the right field line giving the 'Cats a 2-0 lead.  Two pitches later, second baseman Chase Douglas belted a solo shot over the right field fence putting WSC ahead 3-0.
            Concordia-St. Paul matched Wayne State's three-run third and tied the score at 3-3 and then scored three more in the fourth for a 6-3 advantage.
            Another run by the Golden Bears gave CSP a 7-3 lead after seven innings.
            Wayne State got one run back in the eighth as Trey Wells walked and later scored on a Nick Barnett RBI single making the score 7-4.
            Concordia-St. Paul out-hit WSC 13-6.  Thomas had half of Wayne State's hits going 3 for 5 with a two-run homer and two RBI.  Douglas added a solo homer while Colin Lynam and Nick Barnett each singled.
            Starter Nathan Anderson (2-2) was tagged with the pitching loss in five innings of work, allowing six runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts.  Junior reliever Jacob Kneifl finished the final three innings and gave up just two hits and one run with two walks and two strikeouts.
            The Wildcats return home to face #20 Augustana in a mid-week NSIC doubleheader at the Pete Chapman Baseball Complex Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
