The Wayne State College women's soccer team battled Northwestern Oklahoma State to a 0-0 draw in the season opener for the Wildcats Thursday afternoon at the WSC Soccer Pitch.

            The Wildcats held a 5-1 shot advantage through the first half to go along with three corner kicks. Senior
Maia Vacks led with two shots with one on goal in the first half and goalkeeper
Sidney Truman grabbed one save from the Rangers.

            The second half, both teams stepped up the attack and the Rangers fired 10 shots with four on goal and outpaced the Wildcats who only had eight shot attempts. NWOSU was able to find themselves in scoring position with three corner kicks in the second half compared to WSC's one corner kick.

            The Wildcats held the shot advantage with 13 to the Rangers 10 in the contest and Truman ended the match with five saves. Vacks led with three shots (two on goal) with
Alaina Sorensen and
Halena Handel adding two shots on goal apiece.

           Wayne State is at home again Sunday afternoon hosting William Jewell College in a 1:30 p.m. contest at the WSC Soccer Pitch.Â
