Wayne State soccer was defeated this afternoon by Minot State University, 3-2 on the road in an NSIC match up.
Morgan Mancuso scored the two goals for the 'Cats early in the first half. WSC drops to 4-3-4 overall and 3-3-2 in conference. MSU moves to 4-5-2 and 4-2-2 in conference.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead with a
Morgan Mancuso goal, assisted by
Kaylee Herall. The Beavers responded with two goals of their own in the next five minutes to take the 2-1 lead.
Mancuso would score her second goal of the game just seconds later to make it 2-2 in the 11
th minute of play. Neither offense would find too many more shot opportunities in the remainder of the first half.
Minot State would score the game winning goal in the 49
th minute and would hold off an aggressive Wildcat attack to defeat WSC 3-2.
The 'Cats had a 16-10 advantage in shots, 10-2 in the second half. WSC also had a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks, taking eight of them in the second half.
Goalkeeper
Alexa Hofstetter collected four saves in the contest. Mancuso led the offense with four shot attempts, three on goal, and both Wildcat goals.
Reagan Allen added three shots while
Mia Gonzalez had two shots on goal.
Wayne State College will be back on the pitch Friday, October 17
th in Wayne, Neb. when they take on the Mustangs from Southwest Minnesota State. The match is set to start at 3 p.m.
