WSC completes weekend road sweep with 4-0 win at MSU Moorhead

            Wayne State saw four different players score goals as the Wildcats completed a weekend road sweep Sunday afternoon with a 4-0 NSIC women's soccer victory at MSU Moorhead.  The 'Cats are now 3-0-2 and 2-0-0 in the NSIC while the host Dragons slip to 1-3-1 and 0-2 in league play.        
            The Wildcats opened the scoring in the 12th minute when sophomore forward Morgan Mancuso scored her first goal of the season with an assist from Kaylee Herall putting WSC ahead 1-0.
            Less then two minutes later WSC scored again as senior Paige Pemberton scored a goal in her third straight game, finding the back of the net with an assist by Reagan Allen at the 14:29 mark putting the 'Cats in front 2-0.
            WSC held a 2-0 lead at intermission despite being out-shot by MSU Moorhead in the first half 15-9 but the 'Cats held a 6-4 edge in shots on goal.
            Wayne State added two more goals in the second half for the 4-0 win.  The first came at the 67:59 mark when senior Alaina Sorensen found the net with an assist from Nevaeh James and the final insurance goal came with just over five minutes remaining when freshman Briella Thompsen scored thanks to an assist by Taylor Woods to close the 4-0 victory.
            Despite winning 4-0, WSC was out-shot 20-16 in the contest but the 'Cats held a 12-6 advantage in shots on goal.  Mancuso and Sorensen each had three shots on goal with one goal apiece to lead Wayne State.  Pemberton and Thompsen both recorded two shots on goal with each player scoring one goal.
            Sophomore goalkeeper Alexa Hofstetter played all but 6:23 of the contest in goal and was credited with six saves while freshman Katelyn Miller played the final 6:23 for the 'Cats.
            WSC is at home for their next four contests, starting Friday at 3 p.m. hosting Minnesota Duluth at the WSC Soccer Pitch.
