Wayne State returner Brayden Chaney was named Northern Sun Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week Monday morning following his performance in Saturday's 45-13 NSIC road victory at Bemidji State.
            A 6-0, 185 pound fifth-year player from Gretna HS, Chaney had a 70-yard punt return for touchdown in the second quarter of Saturday's win and finished the game with three punt returns for 78 yards. 
            His 78 punt return yards Saturday were the seventh-most in a single game by a Wildcat punt returner and his 70-yard punt return was the ninth-longest in school history.  It was also the first punt return for a touchdown by a Wildcat player since September 17, 1994 when Lamart Cooper tied a school record with an 87-yard punt return for touchdown against Northern State in Wayne.  
            For the season, Chaney ranks second in the NSIC in punt return average at 15.1.  He has 13 punt returns for a total of 196 yards so far this season. 
            WSC, now 6-1 on the season and 5-1 in the NSIC, is on a bye week this week and returns to play on Saturday, October 24^th with a road game at #5 Minnesota State in Mankato, Minnesota at 1 p.m.
