Wayne State College Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Elly Kueny as its new Director of Athletics Marketing. A former Wildcat volleyball student-athlete and Wayne State graduate, Kueny returns to the athletic department with experience in marketing, event promotion, social media and community engagement.
In her new role, Kueny will oversee marketing and promotional efforts for Wayne State's athletic programs, with an emphasis on enhancing the game-day atmosphere, increasing fan engagement, driving attendance and strengthening connections between Wildcat Athletics, the campus and surrounding communities.
"We are excited to welcome Elly back to Wayne State Athletics," said
Megan Finn, Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs. "As a former Wildcat student-athlete, she understands the culture of our department and the importance of creating a great experience for our fans, community, and student-athletes. Her creativity, enthusiasm and marketing background will be tremendous assets as we continue to grow our fan engagement and promotional efforts."
Kueny graduated from Wayne State College in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in marketing. During her time at WSC, she spent time working with Wayne State Intramurals, where she developed promotional campaigns, managed social media platforms and created digital content to increase student participation and engagement.
She also supported marketing and social media initiatives for the Wayne State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), promoting student-athlete activities, community engagement events and fundraising efforts, including initiatives benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Most recently, Kueny served as a floor manager at IKT Boutique, where she gained experience in, merchandising, customer engagement and daily business operations.
A four-year member of the Wayne State volleyball program from 2019-2023, Kueny brings a unique perspective to the position, having experienced Wildcat Athletics firsthand as an NCAA Division II student-athlete.
"Returning to a place that has given me so much is incredibly special," remarked Kueny. "Being a former student-athlete, it's really cool to see what goes on behind the scenes and all the work that builds and creates athletics at Wayne State. I had the best time at WSC, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to tell our student-athletes' stories, celebrate our traditions, and help create memorable experiences for our athletes, fans, and community at a place I'll always call home!"
Kueny's combination of marketing experience and familiarity with Wayne State Athletics will help further the department's commitment to providing an exciting and engaging game-day experience for Wildcat fans, students, alumni and the Wayne community.
