Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

FERRIN’S 20 POINTS NOT ENOUGH IN 67-64 LOSS TO HUSKIES

JJ Ferrin's last second three-pointer in regulation rolled off the rim and gave the win to the St. Cloud Huskies 67-64. Ferrin led all scores with his game-high 20 points, going 8-15 from the field and connecting on 3-7 triples. The 'Cats move to 14-11 overall and 10-9 in NSIC play. The Huskies improve to 20-5 and 17-2.
After a quick jumper from Matt Noll, Wayne State found themselves down eight points just five minutes into the game. The Huskies extended their lead out to as many as 13 points in the first half after a pair of free throws.
Junior JJ Ferrin would convert an and-one bucket to cut it to eight and the 'Cats would start chipping away at the Huskies lead.
The two squads traded buckets in the final two minutes, St. Cloud holding onto a three-point lead. A Kai Smith triple and Noll layup made it a two-point game in favor of the Huskies as the teams went to the locker rooms for halftime.
Ferrin led with 15 points followed by Darshan Thomas and Noll with seven points apiece.
WSC took the lead to start the second half off an Aurrion Harris jumper and Noll extended it with a basket of his own. SCS and WSC traded leads early in the second half with WSC extending their lead to as many as six points.
The Huskies responded with big three-pointers down the stretch and ball control before taking the lead for the final time with 1:19 remaining.
Down three and with the ball in their front court and seven seconds remaining, the 'Cats set Ferrin up for a good look at the basket, but the shot just rolls off, and no one was able to rebound the ball. WSC falls to the Huskies, 67-64.
Ferrin led with 20 points and Noll followed up with 15 and 10 rebounds. Ferrin dished out four assists and Smith and Harris each had three apiece as well.
WSC had four steals, scoring on all four of them and limiting themselves to just 12 turnovers. The 'Cats outrebounded the Huskies 41-32 in the contest and shot 66.6 percent from the line. WSC had 16 offensive rebounds in the game.
