Marth Walks It Off in the 7th Inning with Three-Run Homer Against Southwest Baptist

            Junior Emilee Marth walked it off for the Wildcat softball team in the bottom of the 7th to give WSC the 7-5 win over the Southwest Baptist Bearcats in this afternoon's contest. Marth ended with three hits, one run scored and six RBIs to lead the 'Cats.
            SBU scored first in the second inning on a sacrifice fly to go up 1-0. Wayne State would have a runner left on the bases and then Taylor Coleman would help put the Bearcats down in order in the third, striking out one and forced a ground out and fly out.
            Jordyn Klein and Leah Chance would get themselves into scoring position after Klein walked and Chanse hit a double to center. Marth would record her first hit of the contest, a double out to center and the pair of runners would score, making it 2-1 'Cats.
            WSC added another run in the bottom of the fifth thanks to Marth single and Klein scored another run. Lillie Timm followed up in the sixth with a solo home run to make it 4-1 Wayne State heading into the final inning.
            Southwest Baptist found runners on early thanks to five hits and one WSC error. A three-run home run gave SBU the 5-4 lead and Jadeyn Stahr was able to get out of the inning, leaving two Bearcats stranded.
            Haylee Weber and Chance each singled to get the winning run on at first. Marth stepped up to the plate, took the first three pitches as balls, then smashed the ball out to center field to walk it off in the 7th, giving WSC a 7-5 win.
            Marth ended the game 3-4, one run scored, and six RBIs. Chance followed as she went 2-4 with two runs scored.
            Coleman struck out five batters in four innings and Stahr added one strikeout.
 
            Wayne State faces Maryville (Mo.) in another game late Friday afternoon in Shawnee, Kansas at the Mid-America Sports Complex.
