Wayne State College softball picked up a big win over the Clarion Golden Eagles this afternoon 14-3. Sophomore
Reagan Dreibelbis led the 'Cats with two home runs, five RBIs and two runs scored, improving the Wildcats record to 18-4 and the Golden Eagles drop to 4-6.
Wayne State opened the scoring with a double from
Leah Chance and
Jordyn Klein scored the first run.
Emilee Marth and Chance each scored off a
Maddie Scobee double out to left field.
Jordan Brustuen earned an RBI walk for the fourth score of the inning for WSC.
Clarion tacked on two runs in the bottom of the first inning off two hits and one Wildcat error to make it 4-2 after one inning.
WSC added to their lead with a five-run second inning, capped off by
Reagan Dreibelbis two-run homer over the left field fence. Five 'Cats recorded hits in the inning and took advantage of two Golden Eagle errors as WSC took a commanding 9-2 lead.
Wayne State continued to add runs on the scoreboard later in the fifth inning.
Kennadi Borngrebe earned a pair of RBIs as she singled up the middle and drove
Jordyn Rochholz and
Masyn Bunnell in.
Dreibelbis tattooed another home run, her fifth on this spring break trip, to add three more runs to the board giving WSC a commanding 14-2 run.
Clarion was able to score one run in the bottom of the fifth and
Jadeyn Stahr was able to escape the jam with bases loaded after the third out fouled out.
Dreibelbis finished the game going 2-3 at the plate with five RBIs, two runs scored and one walk.
Lillie Timm added two hits, two runs, and one RBI while seven other 'Cats recorded a hit. Stahr finished with two strikeouts, six hits, and one earned run in the circle and is now 7-0 in her first season with Wayne State.
The Wildcats conclude their spring break trip to Florida Wednesday with two more games, battling Northwood (Mich.) at 9 a.m. and Point Park (Pa.) in an 11:15 a.m. contest.
