Wayne State is back in the win column with their 7-3 win over the Seton Hill Griffins this afternoon.
Maddie Scobee led the WSC offense with a pair of runs scored and two RBIs as she went 1-3 at the plate with a walk.
Kennadi Borngrebe struck out seven batters in 4.0 innings in the contest. WSC improves to 13-2 while Seton Hill moves to 3-10.
Borngrebe started in the circle for the Wildcats struck out two batters in the first inning. WSC opened the scoring off a Scobee double down the left field line with
Emilee Marth and
Leah Chance scoring. Scobee scored the third run of the inning on a sacrifice fly from
Taylor Coleman.
Scobee added another run in the third inning after Borngrebe drove one out to right field. The 'Cats took advantage of an error later in the inning to score Coleman and Borngrebe. Their final run came from an RBI walk for Marth, going up 7-0 in the bottom of the third.
The Griffins scored a pair of runs in the fifth inning to cut the deficit. The final run of the contest came for Seton Hill on a sacrifice fly to right field.
WSC snuffed out any kind Griffin come back in the top of the seventh to get the 7-3 win.
Jadeyn Stahr and the WSC infield put the Griffins away with a pair of fielder's choices and a pop out to close out the game.
Scobee led the way for WSC as she scored two runs and batted two runners in. Borngrebe is now 6-1 when starting in the circle for WSC on the season.
Wayne State will take on the Chargers from Dominican University New York this afternoon with first pitch set for 1:15 p.m.
