Taylor Coleman fired a one-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts and was 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI double to power Wayne State softball in a 3-0 win Sunday afternoon over Ashland (Ohio) in non-conference softball played in Bartow, Florida. WSC is now 17-3 on the season while the Eagles fall to 3-6.
The contest was a pitcher's duel between Coleman and Ashland's Delaney Lis as the game was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning.
Maddie Scobee opened the sixth with a walk and Coleman doubled to center field to bring home pinch-runner

Reagan Dreibelbis followed with a two-run homer to make the score 3-0.
The lone hit of the game for Ashland came in the first inning on a double to right-center field. Coleman held the Eagles in check the rest of the game fanning 14 batters while walking four to improve to 4-1 on the season with her second shutout this year.
Coleman had two of Wayne State's six hits, going 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Dreibelbis homered and had two RBI while

Lillie Timm each singled.
Wayne State is off on Monday and will play two games again Tuesday in Florida battling Grand Valley State at 11:15 a.m. and Clarion (Pa.) at 1:30 p.m.
