Another great year for Wildcat athletics in the classroom

WSC ends 25-26 year with cumulative GPA of 3.436

            It was another outstanding year for Wayne State College student-athletes in the classroom as all 15 Wildcat teams ended the 2025-26 school year with cumulative grade point averages over 3.10.  As an entire athletic department, Wayne State's 15 athletic teams closed the 2025-26 academic year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.436.
            A record 331 Wildcat student-athletes earned the Edward Jones Presidential Scholar Athlete Award, given to an athlete that maintains a 3.20 grade point average or higher.  Wildcat athletics saw 62 student-athletes in the spring 2026 semester post a perfect 4.00 grade point average.  For the year, 159 Wildcats received NSIC All-Academic Team honors with 14 seniors collecting the NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Award, exhausting his/her athletic eligibility while maintaining a 3.75 grade point average or higher.
            The top grade point average for Wildcat women's teams was basketball 3.745 followed by women's golf with 3.699 and volleyball/beach volleyball at 3.629.  Other women's sports included soccer at 3.567, outdoor track and field (3.499), softball at 3.486, indoor track and field with 3.48 and cross country at 3.42.  All women's sports held a cumulative grade point average of 3.557 at the end of the spring 2026 semester.
            Men's sports was led by baseball's 3.36 grade point average followed by basketball at 3.302 and indoor and outdoor track and field with 3.257 each.  Rounding out men's sports were cross country at 3.181 and football with a 3.17.  The six men's sports combined had a cumulative grade point average of 3.255.
