CSC Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team honors handed out to five Wildcats

            Five members of the Wayne State College men's track and field/cross country teams have been named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country Team announced Tuesday morning.  The group includes senior thrower Jake Peitz and junior thrower Jaxson Ninete – both repeat selections – along with seniors Alex Leuenberger and Matthew Logue and sophomore William Keller.  Ninete has also advanced to the All-American ballot that is voted on by CSC members and will be announced Tuesday, July 14th.
            Eligible nominees must carry a minimum 3.50 or higher grade point average and have posted a top 50 mark in his respective event(s) within the Central Region.
            Peitz, a senior thrower from Hartington (Hartington-Newcastle HS), carried a 3.63 grade point average majoring in family consumer science/foods and nutrition.  On the track, he was a fourth-place finisher in the hammer throw at the NSIC Outdoor Championships (179' 3") and ranked in the top 50 in the Central Region in the hammer throw and the weight throw during the indoor season.
            Ninete, a junior thrower from Elkhorn (Elkhorn HS), recorded a 3.96 grade point average this year majoring in history.  He was the NSIC champion in the hammer throw at 191' 9" and was an NCAA national qualifier in the event.  Ninete also placed fifth in the discus (156' 10") and was All-NSIC during the indoor season in the weight throw placing second with a mark of 62' 3".
            Leuenberger, a senior sprinter from Waverly (Waverly HS), maintained a 3.91 grade point average majoring in health and physical education PK-12 with a coaching endorsement.  He ranked in the top 50 in the Central Region in the 400-meter dash and ran on two relays teams that placed at the NSIC Outdoor Championships this spring – the fourth place 4 x 100-meter relay team and the eighth-place 4 x 400-meter relay team.
            Logue, a senior thrower from Ponca (Ponca HS), majored in health and physical education K-12 w/coaching supplement endorsement and produced a 3.66 grade point average.  He ranked in the top 50 in the Central Region in the hammer throw and had a 16th place finish in the javelin at the NSIC Outdoor Championships at 141' 0". 
            Keller, a sophomore from Omaha (Millard North HS), carried a 3.98 grade point average majoring in accounting.  He ranked in the top 50 in the Central Region in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and recorded a season-best time of 10:07.29 in the event at the NSIC Outdoor Championships to place 13th overall.
