For the 17^th straight season, the Wayne State College men's track and field team has received the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team Award while three Wildcat individual athletes were also honored Monday afternoon with academic honors.
            To be eligible for the team academic award, an institution must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher while individual award winners must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher and have finished their respective event ranked in the top 50 nationally or have competed on a relay team that finished in the top 35 nationally.
            As a team, Wayne State was one of nine teams from the Northern Sun Conference to earn the honor and finished the 2025-26 school year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.26.
            Individually, junior thrower Jaxson Ninete, sophomore hurdler Mujeeb Adewuyi and freshman jumper Bryce Larsen each received USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
            Ninete, a graduate of Elkhorn HS, maintained a 3.95 grade point average this season majoring in social science and history and just last week was named College Sports Communicators Academic All-American Third Team.  On the track, he was the NSIC champion in the hammer throw and an NCAA national qualifier during the outdoor season while also placing fifth in the discus.  Ninete also collected All-NSIC honors during the indoor season with a second-place finish in the weight throw.
            Adewuyi, a sophomore hurdler from Lagos, Nigeria, recorded a 3.63 grade point average while majoring in computer information systems this season.  On the track he finished eighth in the 110-meter high hurdles (14.79) at the NSIC Outdoor Championships and posted a fifth-place finish during the NSIC Indoor Championships in the 60-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 8.10 seconds.
            Larsen, a freshman from Douglas County West HS, had a 3.73 grade point average this year majoring in chemistry and health science.  He earned All-NSIC honors during the outdoor season with a third place finish in the triple jump at 47' 6 ½" and was seventh during the NSIC Indoor Championships in the triple jump at 47' 4 ¼".
