Wayne State College

            #9 Wayne State College hit a stout .552 with 35 kills and just three attack errors and set a new single match school record with 19 service aces in cruising to a 25-9, 25-6, 25-12 victory over Queens College of New York Saturday morning in Flushing Meadow, New York.  The Wildcats move to 3-0 on the year while the Knights drop to 1-2.
            The opening set saw the Wildcats hit a sizzling .812 with 13 kills and no errors on just 16 attacks in posting an easy 25-9 set win.
            Mia Berg had a team-high five kills in five swings while the 'Cats had six service aces in the opening set thanks to three from Channatee Robles and two by Molly Romano.
            WSC continued their stellar play in the second set with six more service aces – five by Robles – and held Queens to a -.080 attack percentage in capturing a 25-6 set victory.
            Sophomore Delaney Miller had five of Wayne State's 13 kills in the second set while Robles served up five aces to power the 'Cats.
            Reserves saw plenty of playing time in the third set with WSC posting seven service aces by four different players and completed the sweep with a 25-12 win.
            Freshman Sophia Fisher had three kills on four attacks to lead the charge.  Romano added three service aces with Mattie Kamery recording a pair of aces.
            For the match, Wayne State had a .552 hitting percentage for the third-highest hitting percentage in a single match.  The 'Cats had 35 kills and just three errors on 58 attacks. 
            WSC set a new single match record with 19 service aces, eclipsing the previous mark of 16 set vs. Winona State in 2004 and North Dakota in the 2002 season.
            Miller accounted for a team-high nine kills in the match followed by Mia Berg with seven. 
            Robles tied a single game school record with nine service aces, matching the mark of nine held by Michelle Eckardt vs. Colorado Christian in the 2003 season, while Romano added five service aces to go with 22 set assists.
            Libero Anna Borner posted a team-best nine digs.
            Wayne State plays another match Saturday afternoon in Flushing Meadow, New York against Bloomsburg (Pa.).
