NSIC Men's Golf Championship Results (After two rounds of five)
The Wayne State College men's golf team is in fifth place after the first 36 holes of the Northern Sun Conference Championships. The Wildcats shot team scores of 305 and 314 Sunday and Monday at the Hastings Country Club in Hastings, Minnesota for a 36-hole score of 619. The first 36 holes of the five round, 90-hole tournament were played in Hastings, Minnesota with the final 54 holes to be played next spring at the Jewel Golf Course in Lake City, Minnesota.
Minnesota State is the team leader with a 591 (291-300) with St. Cloud State in second at 611 (300-311). Bemidji State sits in third at 614 (309-305) followed by Augustana 616 (310-306) and Wayne State in fifth at 619 (305-314).
Wayne State's top scorer after 36 holes is junior Adam Fields, who is tied for seventh overall at 150 following rounds of 74 and 76. Bellevue West graduate Jake Hirz is tied for 19th overall with a 157 after shooting 73 and 84. Other WSC players include Michael Phillips in 23rd overall with a 158 (80-78), Tyler Thompson is tied for 24th at 159 (78-81) and Tyler DeJong is tied for 36th with a 165 after posting scores of 86 and 79.
The next meet for Wayne State College will be Monday and Tuesday, October 12 and 13 when the Wildcats compete in the All Nebraska College Invite at Arbor Links in Nebraska City, Nebraska.
