Final Results Upper Iowa Invite

Blake Bauer fired a four-under-par round of 68 in the final round Monday to lead the Wayne State College men's golf team at the Upper Iowa Invitational played Sunday and Monday at The Preserve on Rathbun Lake Golf Course in Moravia, Iowa. As a team, the Wildcats shot season-best rounds of 311 and 307 to finish in ninth place with a 36-hole team score of 618.
Minnesota State won the 36-hole event with a 577, four strokes better than runner-up Concordia-St. Paul. Winona State was a close third at 582 and Minot State just one stroke back in fourth at 584.
Bauer posted the top Wildcat score with a one-under par 143 over 36 holes with rounds of 75 and 68 to tie for sixth place overall. The 143 score is tied for the second-best ever score in a 36 hole event by a Wildcat men's golfer and his round of 68 on Monday is also the second-best ever score in a single round by a Wildcat golfer, trailing only a 66 shot by Darrell Fuelberth in 1959 at Seward.
Other Wayne State finishers included
Garret Kuhl at 151 (73-78),
Brad Lanman shot rounds of 81 and 78 for a 159,
Colin Preston posted scores of 82 and 83 for 165 and
Spencer Shadden came in with 174 after rounds of 85-89.
The next action for the Wildcats will be April 13-14 when Wayne State plays in the second segment of the NSIC Golf Championships in Lake City, Minnesota.
