Final Results Wayne State Men's Golf Spring Invitational
Sophomore
Blake Bauer fired a three-under-par 69 Saturday in the second and final round of the 2013 Wayne State College Men's Golf Spring Invitational played at the Wayne Country Club. As a team, the Wildcats shot a 319 Saturday for a nine-stroke improvement from Friday's first round in the first spring event of the season.
Minnesota State won a tightly-contested team race with a 585 (290-295), four shots ahead of second place Nebraska-Kearney at 589 (300-289). Concordia-St. Paul was third at 592 followed by St. Cloud State (593) and Minnesota Crookston fifth at 596 as the top five teams were separated by just 11 shots.
Augustana came in sixth at 600 with Bemidji State seventh at 604. Upper Iowa was two shots back in eighth at 606, Winona State ninth at 608 and Sioux Falls 10
th with 609. Northern State (641) and Wayne State at 647 (328-319) rounded out the team scoring.
O'Neill sophomore
Blake Bauer led the Wildcats with his 81-69 for a 150 to finish tied for 18
th overall.
Garret Kuhl carded rounds of 79 and 85 for a 164 with
Colin Preston next for the Wildcats at 166 after shooting scores of 86 and 80. Other WSC finishers were
Brad Lanman with a 168 (83-85) and
Spencer Shadden at 170 with rounds of 85 both days.
The next action for the Wildcats will be April 6-7 when Wayne State plays in the Upper Iowa Invitational in Waterloo, Iowa.
