Wayne State falls to Minnesota Duluth 3-1 in NSIC women's soccer

           Wayne
State fell to Minnesota Duluth 3-1 in NSIC women's soccer action Sunday afternoon at the Wayne State College Soccer Complex in Wayne. Tiffani Kellerman scored the lone goal for the Wildcats in the defeat, now 5-5-4 overall and 1-4-4 in league play. The win makes the Bulldogs 8-4-2 overall and 8-2 in the NSIC.
            The Wildcats got on the board first in the match when Kellerman buried her second goal of the season off of a crossing pass by Megan Dias to give WSC a 1-0 advantage 4:17 into the contest. The Bulldogs would add two goals in the first half by Brittany Brown (20:00) and Abby Boreen (33:25) to give UMD a 2-1 lead at the half.
            The Bulldogs added another goal in the second half when Reegan Lloyd scored on a free kick from 25 yards out at the 76:24 mark to take a 3-1 advantage. The Wildcats could not manage to put the ball past goalkeeper Hannah Bengston in the second half as Wayne State fell 3-1.
            Minnesota Duluth outshot Wayne State 20-12 in the match. The Bulldogs also added seven corner kicks on the afternoon with two corner kicks resulting in goals for UMD. The Wildcats held an advantage in shots on goal with eight on the afternoon.
            Wayne State was led by Kellerman with a goal in the match. Liz Israelsen and Kayli Hopper each two added shots on goal for WSC offensively. Wayne State goalkeeper Emily Walker had five saves on the day for Wayne State.
            Wayne State will be on the road next weekend, visiting MSU Moorhead Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and Minnesota, Crookston Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in Northern Sun Conference play.
