Wayne State 1 Upper Iowa 1
Wayne State and Upper Iowa collided in an NSIC women's soccer matchup Saturday afternoon at the WSC Soccer Complex in Wayne. The Wildcats are now 3-4-2 overall and 0-3-1 in the NSIC while Upper Iowa is 2-5-1 overall with a conference record of 0-3-1.
Leslie Willson of Upper Iowa got the scoring started with a goal at the 22 minute mark in the first half. Samantha Zobott of Wayne State knotted the score at 1-1 with a goal just over one minute into the second half. Both goals were unassisted and came off deflections in front of the net. WSC outshot UIU 20-14 throughout the contest and both teams missed opportunities to win in the overtime periods.
Individually for the Wildcats Liz Israelsen led the team with five shots while Liz Kaluzinski led the Peacocks with four shots of her own. Goal keeper Jessica Stringer tallied four assist on the afternoon while her Upper Iowa counterpart Amanda Smith notched seven saves.
Wayne State will be at it again Sunday afternoon hosting NSIC co-leader Winona State in a 1:00 p.m. Northern Sun Conference contest.
