#10 Wildcats cap perfect home stand with hard fought sweep over MSU Moorhead

            #10 Wayne State capped a 4-0 home stand with a hard fought 3-0 win over MSU Moorhead in Northern Sun Conference volleyball played Saturday afternoon at Rice Auditorium in Wayne.  Scores of the match were 25-15, 27-25 and 28-26.  The Wildcats are now 15-5 overall and 8-3 in the NSIC while the Dragons drop to 9-10 and 7-5 in league play.

            WSC got off to a quick start, dominating the first set with a 25-15 win as the Wildcats recorded 14 kills with just two attack errors while forcing MSU Moorhead into seven attack errors.  The second and third sets were much different.  The Wildcats trailed 16-13 in the second set and were down 19-18.  WSC rallied and took a 24-21 lead, but MSU Moorhead scored three straight points to even the score at 24-24, but three straight kills by sophomore Cori Hobbs helped the Wildcats win the second set 27-25.  The third set saw WSC build a 15-10, but the Dragons rallied and tied the score at 17-17 and actually led 20-19.  MSU Moorhead had a pair of set points at 25-24 and 26-25, but WSC rallied both times and used back to back kills from Tali Fredrickson and match winning kill by Alex Armes to finish off the Dragons 28-26.

            Wayne State outhit MSU Moorhead .222 - .158 with the Wildcats recording 53 kills to 42 by the Dragons.  Both teams had 16 attack errors.  Senior Tali Fredrickson had her second straight double-double on the weekend, accounting for 18 kills and 26 digs to lead the Wildcats.  Sophomore outside hitter Cori Hobbs added 13 kills for WSC.  Senior libero Leigh Connot had 23 digs followed by Nicole Brungardt's 13 and 12 by McKenna Reagan and sophomore setter Tatum Wroblewski handed out 48 set assists in the win. 

            The next action for the Wildcats will be Tuesday evening when Wayne State travels to Mankato, Minnesota to battle #20 Minnesota State in a 7:00 p.m. Northern Sun Conference contest.
