Senior outside hitter Tali Fredrickson recorded her eighth straight double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs, which is her 15th double-double of the season, to lead #13 Wayne State in a 3-0 Northern Sun Conference volleyball sweep over St. Cloud State at Rice Auditorium in Wayne. Scores of the match were 25-14, 25-19 and 25-14. WSC is now 18-6 overall and 11-4 in conference play.
A balanced attack was led by Fredrickson with 12 kills followed by Melanie Placke and Cori Hobbs with nine, Mindy Moody notched seven and Alex Armes chipped in six for the 'Cats. Senior libero Leigh Connot led WSC in digs with 12 on the night while sophomore setter Tatum Wroblewski accounted for 39 of the teams' 43 assists. Fredrickson was also credited with two service aces in the match while Armes led the Wildcats with four blocks.
WSC held the hitting advantage with an attack percentage of .388 to .107 for St. Cloud State. The Wildcats committed only seven attack errors while forcing the Huskies into 20 errors on the attack. Wayne State was able to dominate the first set holding an advantage in attack percentage .452-.077. The Wildcats hit no lower than .333 in three sets while holding a 7-2 block advantage over St. Cloud State.
Wayne State will be on the road this weekend, visiting #4 Concordia-St. Paul Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. and St. Cloud State Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in a pair of Northern Sun Conference contests.
