#13 WSC volleyball cruises past St. Cloud State

            #13 Wayne State College forced St. Cloud State into 25 attack errors and a -.027 hitting percentage as the Wildcats rolled to a 25-10, 25-18 and 25-14 win over the Huskies in Northern Sun Conference volleyball played Saturday afternoon in St. Cloud, Minnesota.  The Wildcats are now 20-6 on the season and 13-4 in the NSIC while SCSU falls to 5-20 and 1-16 in league play.

            The Wildcats took control of the match in the first set by forcing the Huskies into 11 attack errors rolling to a 25-10 win in the first set.  WSC recorded a match-best 16 kills in the second set for a 25-18 win and completed the sweep in the third set with 14 kills while forcing the Huskies into seven more attack errors in a 25-14 win.

            WSC hit an efficient .312 in the win with 44 kills and just nine attack errors while St. Cloud State hit -.027 with 22 kills and 25 attack errors.  Senior outside hitter Tali Fredrickson saw her consecutive double-double streak end at eight matches in a row while leading the 'Cats in kills with 11 to go with eight digs.  Melanie Placke had nine kills and no errors in 12 attacks for a sizzling .750 percentage followed by Alex Armes with eight kills.  Senior libero Leigh Connot had 13 digs while sophomore setter Tatum Wroblewski was credited with 35 assists.

            Wayne State hits the road Tuesday evening for a non-conference contest at #6 Nebraska-Kearney starting at 7:00 p.m. followed by NSIC home games next weekend vs. Winona State Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and Upper Iowa Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
