Wayne State College and Emporia State played to a 0-0 double overtime tie in non-conference women's soccer played Tuesday afternoon at the WSC Soccer Complex in Wayne. The host Wildcats are now 2-1-1 on the season while Emporia State now sports a record of 0-2-2.
Wayne State College held a 13-9 edge in shots, including 6-4 in shots on goal over the Hornets. Emporia State had a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks over WSC and the Hornets were whistled for 13 fouls compared to four on the Wildcats.
Individually for WSC Alexa Romek had four shots while Emporia State's Catie Hyde had three shots to lead the Hornets. WSC goal keeper Jessica Stringer was credited with four saves for the Wildcats.
Wayne State will open Northern Sun Conference play this weekend on the road, visiting the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota Saturday at 11:00 a.m. followed by a 1:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon contest at Northern State in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
