Augustana 82 CSU Pueblo 76
#4 seed Augustana College overcame 60 percent first-half shooting by CSU Pueblo and rallied in the second half for a 82-76 win over the Thunderwolves Friday evening at the NCAA Division II Central Regional Women's Basketball Tournament played at Rice Auditorium on the campus of Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.
CSU Pueblo built a 46-38 advantage at halftime thanks to 60 percent shooting in the first half as the Thunderwolves drained 18 of 30 shots from the field including 5 of 9 from the three point line.
Augustana rallied in the second half, taking their first lead at 67-65 with 6:44 to play and never trailed again as the Vikings sealed the win making 14 of 14 free throws in the second half and 18 of 19 for the game.
Alex Feeney led Augustana in scoring with 24 points followed by Molly Hayes with 22 points and nine assists. Faith Tinklenberg and Emily Schulte also reached double figures with 13 and 10 points for the Vikings.
Kendall Babler led CSU Pueblo in scoring with 19 points to go with a team-high six assists. Erica Hicks poured in 16 points with Laurel Kearsley scoring 14 and Katie Nehf 13 for the Thunderwolves.
Augustana improves to 24-6 on the season and will now face top-seeded Wayne State Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Regional semi-finals. CSU Pueblo ends the year at 21-7.
