MSU Moorhead 4 Wayne State 3 OT

Wayne State College soccer falls to 0-5 to start the season and is now 0-2 in the NSIC after the Wildcats rallied in regulation to force overtime at 3-3 but the Dragons would prevail when Erin Nyberg scored the game winning goal 27 seconds into the second overtime. MSU Moorhead is now 2-2-1 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play.
Scoring got underway in the first half when Isabel Neyman found Nyberg for her first goal of the game at the 17 minute mark and gave MSU Moorhead the 1-0 advantage. Neyman would score a goal of her own at the 24 minute mark as she found the back of the net on an unassisted goal and gave MSUM the 2-0 lead. Wayne State's McKenna Adams would quickly respond as she put the Wildcats on the board less than a minute later with an unassisted goal cutting the deficit to 2-1. The defense for both teams would pick up for the rest of the half as the two teams hit intermission with the 2-1 score.
Sienne Rebollozo scored nine minutes into the second half to give the Dragons a 3-1 lead over the 'Cats but WSC would respond to the two goal deficit. McKenna Adams would find freshman Kelly Voigt for a goal at the 75 minute mark to pull Wayne State within one goal 3-2. Moments later, Adams would score the equalizer for the Wildcats on a pass from Josie Brown to even things up at 3-3.
The two teams then went scoreless for the rest of regulation and the first overtime as 100 minutes of play was not enough to settle this game. Nyberg scored the walk-off goal 27 seconds into the second overtime as Alyson Beare four Nyberg for her second goal of the game.
The Wildcats were led by McKenna Adams who had six shots, five shots on goal, two goals and one assist on the day while Kayli Hopper and Mallory Hoyt each took two shots and Josie Brown and Kelly Voigt took one shot apiece. Courtney True recorded seven saves in the game while allowing four goals while her counterpart Victoria Hoffman notched eight saves and allowed three goals in the net for the Dragons.  Wayne State was outshot 17-12 and each shot had seven corner kicks. It was a physical game as the two teams combined for 27 fouls (MSU Moorhead 15, Wayne State 12).
Wayne State will be on the road again Sunday afternoon visiting Northern State in a 1 p.m. Northern Sun Conference contest in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
