MSU Moorhead 2 Wayne State 1 Despite out-shooting MSU Moorhead 29-9 and 18-5 in shots on goal, Wayne State College suffered a 2-1 loss at MSU Moorhead Sunday afternoon in Northern Sun Conference women's soccer played at the MSUM Soccer Field in Moorhead, Minnesota. The host Dragons move to 2-5 on the season and 1-4 in league play while Wayne State falls to 1-6-1 overall and 0-5 in the NSIC.
In the first half, WSC held an 18-7 edge in shots and 8-1 in corner kicks over the Dragons but trailed 1-0 on the scoreboard thanks to a goal by Mackenzie Carlson at the 22:53 mark.
The second half saw the Wildcats hold a sizeable 11-2 edge in shots over MSUM, but one of the two shots for the Dragons was the game-winning goal eight minutes after WSC had tied the score to give the Dragons a 2-1 win.

Natalie Poppe's first goal of the season with an assist by
Kelsea Lambert. But eight minutes later the Dragons posted the game-winning goal as Kelsey Schatz scored with an assist from Gabrielle Bjorge that gave MSUM the victory.
The Wildcats had 29 shots in the contest to just nine for MSU Moorhead and held an 18-5 edge in shots on goal and 10-2 advantage in corner kicks over the Dragons. WSC had one more foul than MSUM, 6-5, while the Dragons had the lone offside call of the contest.
Kelsea Lambert had 10 shots and six shots on goal with an assist to lead Wayne State offensively.
McKenzie Hallstrom added four shots with three on goal while
Natalie Poppe registered her first goal of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper
Margaret Harma was credited with three saves while allowing two goals playing all 90 minutes in goal for the Wildcats.
Wayne State will be on the road again next weekend in Northern Sun Conference play, visiting Minnesota Crookston Saturday at 11 a.m. and Bemidji State Sunday in a 1 p.m. contest.
