Bemidji State held Wayne State to one run in each game as the Beavers recorded a 2-1 and 4-1 sweep over the Wildcats in Northern Sun Conference softball played Saturday afternoon in Bemidji, Minnesota.  The host Beavers are now 15-17 and 6-10 in league play while WSC falls to 22-14 and 8-8 in the NSIC.
Wayne State had one more hit than Bemidji State (14-13) in the doubleheader, but BSU made the most of their hits as the Beavers had five doubles and a home run to win the low-scoring twinbill.
In the opener, WSC opened the scoring in the first inning when Rachel Shumaker scored on a Kelcie Bormann double for a 1-0 Wildcat lead.
But that was the lone Wildcat run of the game as Bemidji State used single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to edge Wayne State 2-1.
WSC had six hits to five for BSU.  Bormann finished 3 for 3 with a double and RBI.  Monique Alyea tripled while Shumaker and Tiffani Housh singled.
Bormann (12-7) was the losing pitcher despite firing a complete game five-hitter.  She was charged with two runs and strike out nine in a losing effort.
The second game saw Bemidji State complete the sweep with a 4-1 win over the Wildcats.
Bemidji State held WSC to just five hits and no runs until the seventh inning when the Wildcats avoided the shutout in the seventh inning when Megan Hagemann singled and scored on a Lexie Loos fielder's choice to make the final score 4-1.
Both teams had eight hits in the contest.  Alyssa Schropp was 2 for 3 with a double to lead the Wildcats at the plate.  Hagemann and Loos each added two singles while Bormann and Alex Schmidt also had hits for WSC.
Senior Sara Scheffert (5-4) suffered the pitching loss, allowing four runs on eight hits in five innings of work with four strikeouts and no walks.  Junior Cassy Miller pitched the final inning and had two strikeouts.
Wayne State will play at Minnesota Crookston Sunday in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
