Box Score Wayne State 1 MSU Moorhead 1 (2 OT)

MSU Moorhead used a wind-aided goal with just over two minutes remaining in regulation to force a 1-1 tie with Wayne State College in Northern Sun Conference women's soccer played Sunday afternoon at the WSC Soccer Pitch.  WSC is now 0-5-3 and 0-4-1 in the NSIC while the Dragons are 1-3-3 and 1-3-1 in league play.
WSC scored the opening goal early as senior defender Natalie Poppe booted a loose ball in front of the net to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead three minutes into the contest for the lone goal of the first half.
MSU Moorhead had the wind at their back in the second half and dominated play with a 12-3 shot advantage over the Wildcats.  The Dragons were not able to score on the 'Cats until a wind-aided ball from the left side by Lindsey Micheletti curved over the leap of WSC goalkeeper Kylie Comba with just 2:07 to play in regulation forging a 1-1 tie.
In the first overtime, WSC had a golden opportunity to score with a free kick from just outside the box, but the initial shot by Suenly Galvez was blocked and the rebound attempt by Poppe from point blank range was high as the Dragons averted a possible overtime win by the Wildcats as WSC held a 6-2 edge in shots in the first overtime.
The second overtime saw MSU Moorhead with the only two shots as the two teams ended in a 1-1 tie.
MSU Moorhead held a 21-16 edge in shots on WSC including 10-7 in shots on goal.  Wayne State had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks and was called for 14 fouls compared to nine by the Dragons.
Poppe scored Wayne State's goal, her first of the year.  Josie Brown led WSC with five shots (three on goal) followed by Kelsey Engstrom and Christina Stasi with three shots each.  WSC goalkeeper Kylie Comba made nine shots with one goal allowed.
The Wildcats will be at home again next weekend, hosting Minnesota Crookston Saturday at 11 a.m. and Bemidji State Sunday in a 1 p.m. contest.
