Alex Francis Classic Final Results
Redshirt freshman thrower
Mckenzie Scheil won the hammer throw and placed second in the shot put with NCAA provisional marks in both events to lead the Wayne State College women's track and field team Thursday at the Alex Francis Track and Field Classic hosted by Fort Hays State in Kansas. The meet attracted NCAA Division II schools from Nebraska-Kearney, Wayne State and Fort Hays State, NAIA schools Bethany, Southwestern and Northwest Kansas and junior colleges from Barton County, Cloud County, Colby, Dodge City and Pratt.
Scheil, a graduate of Fillmore Central HS, won the hammer throw with a mark of 173' 8" and came in second place in the shot put at 45' 10", recording NCAA provisional marks in both events.
Kenzie Sullivan posted a second place finish in the discus (144' 5") and was seventh in the shot put (39' 5").
Tia Jones notched a pair of fourth place efforts in the hammer throw (163' 8") and shot put (43' 3").
Sarah Stang came in sixth in the hammer throw (152' 7") and eighth in the shot put (39' 3 ¾") while
Nicole Heeren took seventh in the discus (121' 1") and seventh in the hammer throw (147' 0").
Ali Dykman and
Hanna Lazure each tied for fifth in the high jump clearing 4' 11".
Freshman sprinter
Jordyn Pester was fifth in the 100-meter dash (12.72) and seventh in the 200-meter dash (26.21),
Molli Vasa was ninth in the 100-meter dash (13.47) and
Morgan Shearer took ninth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.77 seconds.
Wayne State will compete again on Friday and Saturday, April 5
th and 6
th at the Concordia Invitational in Seward.
