NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championship Women's Day 1 Results
Mckenzie Scheil won the weight throw with a season-best and NCAA provisional mark to lead the Wayne State College women's indoor track and field team on the opening day of the 2020 Northern Sun Conference Indoor Championships at Myers Fieldhouse in Mankato, Minnesota Friday. As a team, Wayne State is sixth after the opening day with 16 points.
The University of Mary is the team leader after the opening day with 44 points followed by Augustana in second at 39.66 points. Minnesota State (39), Concordia-St. Paul (20) and St. Cloud State (19.5) close out the top five teams. Wayne State was sixth with 16 points followed closely by Southwest Minnesota State (14), Northern State (13.83), Sioux Falls (11) and Minnesota Duluth (9) in the top 10.
Scheil captured the NSIC title in the weight throw with a season-best mark of 62' 12", an NCAA provisional mark that moves her into fourth place in NCAA Division II.
Other Wildcats that scored points on the opening day of the NSIC Indoor Championships were sophomore
Mikayla Marvin placing fifth in the pole vault clearing 11' 2 ¾" while sophomore Ali Dykman collected a seventh place medal in the high jump clearing 5' 3".
The final day of the NSIC Championships will be held Saturday with field events starting at 9:30 a.m. and finals in all running events beginning at 1 p.m.
