Three event wins, two NCAA provisional marks for WSC women at Northwest Missouri Invite

Herschel Neil Northwest Missouri Invite Final Results

            The Wayne State College women's indoor track and field team had three event wins and two NCAA provisional marks Saturday at the Herschel Neil Invite hosted by Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri.  The event attracted 12 teams in NCAA Division II, NAIA and Junior College ranks from Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas.
            The Wildcats dominated the throwing events as WSC had six of the seven finishers in the weight throw.  Junior Mckenzie Scheil took first place with an NCAA provisional mark of 60' 7 ¾" that now ranks 10th in NCAA Division II.  Jadin Wagner also had an NCAA provisional mark of 57' 8 ½" and placed third.
            Nicole Heeren took fourth in the weight throw at 51' 9 ¼" followed by Kenzie Sullivan in fifth (50' 8 ¾"), Sarah Stang sixth (49' 3 ¾") and Kendra Paasch seventh (48' 4").
            In the shot put, Scheil posted a first place finish with a top mark of 45' 6 ½" to lead a WSC group that had four of the top six finishes.  Wagner came in second at 45' 3 ¾" followed by Sullivan in third (42' 7") and Paasch in sixth at 38' 8 ¼".
            The other Wildcat event win came from freshman Megan Hansen, who crossed the line first in the 60-meter hurdle finals with a time of 8.94 seconds.
            Junior Jordyn Pester had a third place finish in the 400-meter dash (59.01) with fifth place finishes coming from Brooke Solomon in the 5,000-meter run (19:200.60) and Brianna Crouch in the 1,000-meter run at 3:10.19.
            Sixth place finishers included Makenna Taake in the long jump (16' 1 ¾"), and Alison Stineman in the one mile run at 5:50.07.
            Kim Johnson took seventh in the 1,000-meter run (3:21.76) with Emily Smollen taking seventh in the long jump (15' 11 ¾").
            Eighth place finishers were Hanna Lazure in the high jump clearing 5' ¼", Riana Noelle in the triple jump (33' 9 ¼"), Keyla Sambo in the long jump (15' 9 ½") and Amanda Mote in the one mile run at 6:07.23.
            The next meet for Wayne State will be Friday, February 5th when the Wildcats travel to Fargo, North Dakota and compete in the Bison Open at North Dakota State.
