SDSU Holiday Invite Final Results

Mckenzie Scheil and
Brooklynn Chipps each hit NCAA provisional marks in the weight throw to lead the Wildcat women's indoor track and field team Friday evening at the season opening SDSU Holiday Invitational held at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, South Dakota. The meet attracted 17 teams and over 500 athletes from NCAA Division I, II and NAIA schools throughout the region.
Scheil, a graduate student from Fairmont, posted a third place finish in the weight throw at 62' 2 ¾" while teammate
Brooklynn Chipps, a junior from Elgin, was right behind in fourth place out of 50 throwers with a mark of 60' 1 ¼". Both Scheil and Chipps hit NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the event.
Scheil and Chipps also posted strong marks in the shot put as Scheil took fifth at 43' 10 ¾" with Chipps next in sixth place at 43' 8 ¾".
Top performances in running events included sophomore
Megan Hansen finishing 10
th in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.15 seconds and sophomore
Kelsey Larsen taking 12
th in the 800-meter run (2:32.49).
Wayne State resumes the 2022 indoor track and field season on Saturday, January 15
th at the Mount Marty Opener in Yankton, South Dakota.
