Former Wayne State national champion and All-American Michaela Dendinger will be competing this week at the U.S. Olympic Team Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon. A graduate of Hartington Public High School, Dendinger will compete in the hammer throw on Thursday, June 24th in the qualifying round of the hammer throw at 3:25 p.m. Central Time. She is one of 24 competitors in the event with the top 12 throwers in qualifying advancing to Saturday's finals at 4:05 p.m. Dendinger earned the right to compete in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials with a lifetime best mark of 223' 1" that is 15th best in the nation entering this week's competition. Dendinger, a native of Coleridge, was a two-time NCAA champion and nine-time All-American during her career at Wayne State from 2014-18.
