Brooklynn Chipps notches NCAA provisional mark in weight throw at USD Alumni Meet

USD Alumni Meet Final Results

            Junior thrower Brooklynn Chipps posted an NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw to lead the Wayne State women's indoor track and field team Saturday at the South Dakota Alumni Meet held at the DakotaDome in Vermillion, South Dakota.
            Chipps a junior from Clearwater, produced a fourth place mark in the weight throw at 64' 7", an NCAA provisional mark that now ranks as the fourth-best throw in NCAA Division II.  She also placed seventh in the shot put at 42' 8 ¼".
            Graduate student McKenzie Scheil also had a strong day for the Wildcats with a third place finish in the shot put (45' 3 ½") to go with a sixth place mark in the weight throw at 60' 9 ½".
            Freshman Maya Couch placed fifth in the finals of the 60-meter dash in 8.16 seconds while Megan Hansen was ninth in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.59 seconds.
            Freshman Kenzie Moeller was eighth in the long jump (16' 6 ½") while in the triple jump Emily Smollen came in seventh place (33'10") followed by Emily Erickson ninth at 33' 6".
            Freshman Brooke Languis placed ninth in the shot put at 41' 10 ¾"
            The quartet of Emily Erickson, Sarah Cotton, Lauryn Hoffman and Kevona Brown was third in the 4 x 400 meter relay with a time of 4:14.22
            Two Wildcat throwers competed Friday at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite in Lincoln as Scheil collected an eighth place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 60' 11 ½" while Brooklynn Chipps was 14th at 54' 4 ½".
            Wayne State will compete again on Saturday, February 12th at the Mount Marty Invite in Yankton.
