Jordan McCormick wins Elite 90 Award for NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship

            Jordan McCormick, a senior at Wayne State College, is the recipient of the Elite 90 Award for the 2023 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship.
            McCormick, majoring in K-6 special education and a graduate of Elkhorn South High School, currently carries a 4.00 grade point average.  She was presented the award during the Division II Women's Volleyball championship banquet held Wednesday evening in Moon Township, Pa.
            The Elite 90, an awarded founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.  The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete who has the highest cumulative grade point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
            Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school.  All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.  For more information on the Elite 90 award winners, log on to https://www.ncaa.com/elite-90.
            Last month, McCormick was award the NSIC Elite 18 award at the NSIC Volleyball Championships in Wayne as the student-athlete with the highest grade point average at the NSIC Championship event.  Last summer, McCormick was named the first-ever Beach Volleyball All-American at Wayne State earning Second Team honors. 
            McCormick is the second Wayne State athlete to receive the prestigious academic honor at the NCAA Volleyball Championships as Leisa McClintock was named the Elite 90 award winner in 2015 when the Wildcats played at the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships in Tampa, Florida.
