The Wayne State College men's cross country team placed 10
th Saturday morning at the Northern Sun Conference Cross Country Championships held at Souris Valley Golf Course in Minot, North Dakota. The Wildcats had a team score of 257 points with freshman
Ethan Walters being the highest finishing Wildcat runner taking 34
th place overall out of a field of 133 runners.
Augustana captured the team title with 31 points, well ahead of second-place MSU Moorhead with 70 points. Minnesota Duluth (106), UMary (134) and Sioux Falls (138) closed out the top five teams. Minnesota State won a tiebreaker over Winona State for sixth place with both teams scoring 176 points. Concordia-St. Paul (192), Northern State (204) and Wayne State (257) rounded out the top 10 teams.
Walters, a freshman from Elkhorn HS, crossed the finish line first for the Wildcats with a time of 25:15.5 on the 8,000-meter course.
Quentin Dreyer was next for WSC in 44
th place overall at 25:33.6 and
Brody Lucas 46
th at 25:37.5.
