Kneifl, Williams earned All-NSIC honors on final day of NSIC Championships

            Seniors Dylan Kneifl and Debonaire Williams each earned All-NSIC honors and sophomore Keaton Wattier set another school record in the 60-meter hurdles Saturday to lead the Wayne State men's indoor track and field team on the final day of the 2024 Northern Sun Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at Myers Fieldhouse in Mankato, Minnesota.  As a team Wayne State finished eighth place with 31 points.
            Minnesota State dominated the men's team race scoring 237 points with Augustana second at 100.  Northern State edged MSU Moorhead for third place 89-82 and Minnesota Duluth was fifth with 74.5 points.  Concordia-St. Paul and UMary tied for sixth with 44 points and Wayne State came in eighth place at 31 points.  Sioux Falls (18), Minot State (11) and Southwest Minnesota State (6.5) closed out the team scoring.
            Kneifl, a senior from Pilger, collected a second-place finish in the high jump clearing 6' 9 ½" to earn All-NSIC honors.
            Williams also earned All-NSIC honors with a third-place effort in the heptathlon scoring 4,730 points.  He was one of three Wildcats to place in the event as Alex Brandt was next in fourth place at 4,676 points and sophomore Jarrett McQueen finishing seventh at 4,232 points.
            The other highlight for the Wildcats on Saturday was another school record by O'Neill sophomore Keaton Wattier in the 60-meter hurdles, placing fifth with a new school record time of 8.08 seconds, bettering his mark one day earlier of 8.17 seconds in prelims. 
            In the shot put Saturday, Daylin Mallory posted a sixth place finish in the shot put at 51' 11 ¾". 
            Other points scored by the Wildcats came from junior Logan Moeller in the long jump, taking seventh at 22' 11 ¼" and the men's distance relay quartet of Gabe Peitz, Austin Madsen, Andrew Wyllie and Quentin Dreyer came in eighth place with a time of 10:41.05.
