Seniors
Dylan Kneifl and Gabe Peitz earned event wins for the Wayne State College men's track and field team Friday evening at the Concordia Indoor Invitational held at Bulldog Fieldhouse in Seward. Teams competing at the meet were host Concordia, Bellevue, Benedictine (Kan.), Doane, Hastings and Wayne State.
Kneifl, a senior from Pilger (Wisner-Pilger HS), captured another first-place finish in the high jump clearing 6' 7 ¼" with teammate
Elliott Nottlemann second at 6' 3 ½" and
Alex Brandt tied for fourth clearing 6' 1 ½".
The other first-place finish came from Peitz, a senior from Wakefield, in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:57.08. Junior
Quentin Dreyer followed in second at 1:58.74 and
Andrew Wyllie was fourth at 2:00.17. Dreyer also posted a third place finish in the 1,000-meter run at 2:34.24 with Peitz taking fifth in 2:39.43.
Sophomore
Keaton Wattier collected a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles finals at 8.21 seconds.
In the long jump, Pierce junior
Logan Moeller took second at 23' 3 ½" with
Cody Rogers fourth (21' 10 ¾") and
Ty Dingman sixth at 21' 5 ½".
Another second place finish came from sophomore
Daylin Mallory in the shot put at 52' 3 ¾" with
Daniel Elge close behind in third at 52' 2 ½".
The 3,000-meter run saw senior
Titus Kiptoo finish third at 9:08.97 with junior
Brandon Mitzel sixth at 9:17.91.
In the 60-meter dash finals, freshman
Ty Dingman finished sixth in 7.12 seconds with
Wyatt Nissen eighth at 7.18 seconds. Nissen also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.87 seconds.
Freshman
Austin Madsen earned a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 52.76 seconds.
The Wildcat 4 x 400-meter relay team of Nissen,
Mitchell Rudie, Wyllie and Madsen took fourth at 3:36.06.
Wayne State's next meet is Friday, February 16
th competing at the SDSU Last Chance Invite in Brookings, South Dakota.
