WSC men win five events with two NCAA provisional marks at Wildcat Outdoor Classic

            The Wayne State College men's track and field team collected five event wins with two NCAA provisional qualifying marks and one new WSC school record to open the outdoor season Friday and Saturday at the 18th annual Wildcat Outdoor Track and Field Classic held on Leroy Simpson Track at Bob Cunningham Field in Wayne.
            Norfolk sophomore Samuel Zazueta posted the first event win in the hammer throw at 195' 10", an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.  WSC had five of the top seven finishers in the event as Jaxson Ninete finished second (192' 4"), Jake Peitz fifth at 175' 5", Alex Altman was sixth with a mark of 173' 7" and J'Dyn Bullion was seventh (170' 9").
            Bullion had another event win in field events for the Wildcats Saturday posting a first-place mark in the discus at 177' 6", an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and new WSC school record.  The previous school mark was 172' 10" held by Brad Wright dating back to the 2013 season.  Ninete was third (164' 2") and Zazueta fourth at 163' 2".
            Stanton sophomore Mitchell Hupp crossed the tape first in the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.49 seconds while Mujeeb Adewuyi collected a first-place finish in the 110-meter high hurdles at 14.31 seconds.
            The final event win for WSC came in the 4 x 100-meter relay with Waylon Sherman, Luke Klabenes, Hupp and Tragon Timm winning the event in a time of 42.10 seconds.
            Second-place finishes were posted by Timm in the 100-meter dash (10.63), Osman Saeed in the 400-meter dash (49.74), Joe Dewald in the 400 hurdles (57.54), Cain Brown in the high jump (6'  7 ½") and Devon Schultz in the pole vault clearing 15' 3".
            Alex Leuenberger was third in the 200-meter dash in 21.85 seconds and Elliott Nottlemann posted a fifth place finish in the high jump clearing 6' 5 ½".
            Wayne State's next meet is Friday and Saturday (April 3-4) at the Nebraska Invite in Lincoln.
