Wayne State had three NCAA provisional marks and placed fifth with 66 points at the Emporia State Midwest Classic men's track and field meet held Friday in Emporia, Kansas.
           Host Emporia State captured the team title with 140 points followed by Cloud County CC in second at 97 points. Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney tied for third with 88 points and Wayne State was fifth out of 16 teams scoring 66 points.
           Junior high jumper
Cain Brown hit an NCAA provisional mark clearing 6' 10 ¼" to finish third overall.
           Junior thrower
Jaxson Ninete had a second-place finish in the hammer throw at 191' 8" with teammate
Samuel Zazueta third at 189' 2" with both marks NCAA provisionals.
           Freshman
Braylon Chism was third in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.04 seconds while freshman
Bryce Larsen posted a third-place finish in the long jump at 23' 3 ½".
           Sophomore sprinter
Mitchell Hupp had a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash in 10.53 seconds.
           Osman Saaed took fifth in the 400-meter dash at 48.96 seconds. Senior
Alex Altman was fifth in the hammer throw at 181' 11",
Bryce Faimon had a fifth-place finish in the long jump at 22' 8" and Ninete was fifth in the discus with a top throw of 153' 5".
           Wayne State competes on Friday and Saturday at the Sioux City Relays.Â
