Bullion wins discus for Wildcat men at South Dakota Challenge

            Freshman J'Dyn Bullion's first-place finish in the discus led the Wayne State men's track and field team Saturday at the South Dakota Challenge held in Vermillion.  The meet attracted Division I teams from host South Dakota and South Dakota State along with Augustana and Wayne State from the NSIC and Buena Vista, Concordia, Dordt, Midland and Mount Marty.
            Bullion's winning mark was 158' 7" in the discus. 
            Daylin Mallory's mark of 54' 1" was good for second place in the shot put while teammate Daniel Elge was fourth at 50' 9 ½".  Elge also had a seventh-place mark in the hammer throw at 170' 9".
            In the long jump, Braden Johnson took third at 22' 9 ¼", Cody Rogers was sixth (21' 7 ½") and Debonaire Williams finished seventh at 21' 5 ½".    
            Senior Dylan Kneifl had a third-place finish in the high jump clearing 6' 7".
            In the javelin throw, Alex Brandt took fourth at 164' 1" and Matthew Logue was eighth (146' 2").
            Top finishers for Wayne State in running events were Gabe Peitz fifth in the 800-meter run (1:56.45), Keaton Wattier took sixth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.15 seconds, Quentin Dreyer was sixth in the 1,500-meter run (4:00.48), Brandon Mitzel came in seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 10:40.64 and Wyatt Nissen was seventh in the 200-meter dash in 21.97 seconds.
            The next meet for the Wildcats is Friday, April 19th at the Loper Invite in Kearney.
