Daylin Mallory had a first-place finish in the shot put to lead the Wayne State men's outdoor track and field team Friday at the Loper Invitational held at the Kearney High School track. The meet saw numerous NCAA Division II teams competing including host Nebraska-Kearney along with Chadron State, Colorado Christian, Colorado College, Fort Hays State and South Dakota Mines along with Nebraska Wesleyan and Dodge City Community College from Kansas.
Mallory's winning mark in the shot put was 54' 0" while also placing third in the discus at 158' 9".
Second place finishes were recorded by
Dylan Kneifl in the high jump, clearing 6' 8 ¾".
Keaton Wattier had a second-place finish in the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.55 seconds.
J'Dyn Bullion was second in the discus at 159' 7" and
Daniel Elge was second in the hammer throw at 182' 11".
Other top finishers were
Brandon Mitzel third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:45.22),
Braden Johnson fourth in the long jump (21' 7 ¼"),
Daniel Elge was fourth in the shot put at 48' 2 ½",
Quentin Dreyer had a fifth-place finish in the 1,500-meter run (4:01.98), Jaxon Ninete fourth in the shot put (43' 4 ½") and sixth in the discus (149' 8"),
Alex Altman took sixth in the shot put (42' 0") and seventh in the hammer throw (166' 6"),
Joshua Olesen seventh in the shot put (41' 10 ¾") and
Titus Kiptoo was eighth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:57.30.
Wayne State competes again Tuesday at the Dakota State Invite in Madison, South Dakota and the Mount Marty Twilight Invite in Yankton on Wednesday.
