The Wayne State College women's distance relay team set a new school record Saturday morning at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. The quartet of
Kylie Pachta,
Sarah Cotton,
Alison Stineman and
Callie Kirchner placed seventh overall in a time of 12:27.34, bettering the previous school mark of 12:31.80 set in 2010 by Paige Pollard, Christina King, Megan Zavorka and Sarah Thomsen.
Junior
Reilly Young made the finals in the women's discus Friday afternoon at the Drake Relays and placed eighth out of 23 competitors in a highly competitive, mostly Division I field. Young's top mark in prelims was 150' 7" that advanced her to the finals where she came up with a top throw of 151' 11" on the second attempt in finals to take eighth place.
Wayne State's next meet is Friday when the Wildcats compete in the South Dakota Tuneup Meet at Vermillion.
