Braden Johnson had a second-place finish in the long jump and
Daylin Mallory was second in the shot put to lead a strong effort by Wildcat throwers to lead the Wayne State men's track and field at Concordia Invite Friday held at Bulldog Stadium in Seward. The event attracted teams from Nebraska-Kearney and Wayne State from NCAA Division II along with NAIA teams Concordia, Doane, Hastings, Midland, Nebraska Wesleyan, York College and College of St. Mary.
Johnson had the top Wildcat finish, taking second in the long jump at 22' 7 ¾".
Sophomore
Daylin Mallory added a second-place in the shot put with a top mark of 53' 11" to go with a fifth-place finish in the discus at 162' 5".
Daniel Elge took third in the hammer throw at 178' 11" with teammates
Alex Altman fourth (172' 9") and
Matthew Logue eighth at 163' 3".
Fourth place finishes went to
Keaton Wattier in the 110-meter high hurdles (14.87),
J'Dyn Bullion in the discus (160' 5") and
Quentin Dreyer in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:07.03.
Brandon Mitzel was sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 10:57.45 with
Cody Rogers collecting a sixth-place finish in the triple jump at 44' 4".
Waylon Sherman placed eighth in the 100-meter dash at 11.15 seconds with sophomore
Joshua Olesen taking eighth in the shot put at 42' 11 ½".
Wayne State's next meet is Friday, April 12
th at the Sioux City Relays.
